Our first Christmas tree!

So now that Thanksgiving is over, we decided to get ourselves a Christmas tree! This is our first Christmas tree (although not our first Christmas since being married) and it's real! It smells so good, but it's really strong and it fills the whole apartment...like overwhelmingly fills it! We got it at Lowe's and it only took us like 3 minutes to find it, it was probably the fastest tree shopping I've ever experienced. It's really soft too, not sharp and painful when you touch the needles. I'm also really happy that we got one, because we won't even be here for Christmas (we'll be in St. Louis, Yay!), but Brandon knew that I needed a tree!

Here it is strapped to our little car. We are lucky that it was so nice out today that we could ride with the windows down to hold the ropes.

Here is my really strong husband carrying it into the apartment. It's kind of strange to me that we can wear t-shirts outside because it's so nice, but we are putting up our Christmas tree!



All we have to put on it right now are the lights. The ornaments are currently being shipped to us from St. Louis so it will just have to have lights for right now, but it still looks really good!

My Classroom!

Finally! Here are some pictures of my classroom!! Here is the name sign above my door...the first time I saw this, I was so excited! Finally my own room!

I had to make a giant Mizzou sign! I have to represent my school in such a strong BYU area.
My students definitely know who I am loyal to though! (I'm not sure why this is underlined? I can't figure out how to turn it off!)

I didn't take any pictures of the front of my room beacuse my students were in there at the time, and I legally can't put pictures of them online....I'll get those pictures up another time!

Ron VS Draco

So, I'll give warning here: These pictures are not the best of yours truly. Brandon looks good, but I do not at all. We were both characters from Harry Potter...Brandon was Ron Weasley (he even grew his hair out for it!) and I was Draco Malfoy (that is a boy, so it was kind of hard for me to pull off.)

Oh and I crocheted that scarf that Brandon is wearing...first crochet project ever!! Also, my character is supposed to be evil, but I couldn't stop laughing to make my evil face. Brandon kept making these goofy faces at me!


This was Brandon's head half shaved. He grew it out and could not wait for Halloween to be over so he could shave it off. It was probably 2 1/2 inches long! (This was before I shaved a bald spot into the back of his head)

My BFF Lucas

So I've told a few of you about our neighbors across the street and their son, Lucas. This kid is so cute and he is one of my favorite little kids. He looks like Charlie Brown kind of, he's adorable! Anyway, I thought I'd put up some pictures of him since I talk about him so much.


He calls me and Brandon both "B". We are trying to get him to call Brandon "Red", but it's not really working all that well. In these pictures, Lucas decided to wear our tissue holder on his head!

The huanting

I hate being scared. I get scared VERY easily too. I don't understand why anyone would want to pay to be scared...however I did just that a few days ago. Some friends of ours were going to a haunted house up in Salt Lake. Brandon really likes haunted houses and scary movies so he really wanted to go. I did not, but he convinced me to go. He said we would be going to Nightmare on 13th, which was voted one of the best haunted houses in the country. That means that it's pretty scary though! They wouldn't give an award to a lame haunted house! So we made the trek up to Salt Lake....

I didn't even want to get out of the car. I was already scared. I was so nervous that I felt like I was going to throw up.


This was the first thing we saw....he is just supposed to walk around and creep people out. Well, he earned his paycheck that night because I cried when he came near me. He didn't even sneak up or anything, just that fact that he got so close to me scared the life out of me.

Once we got inside, I just held onto Brandon as if my life depended on it. It wasn't too bad inside, I didn't cry at all! It was based off scary movies like The Exorcist, It, Friday the 13th, The Ring, The Grudge, etc. I was scared quite a few times, but I liked that there were other people in front of us so that they got scared first and I knew what was coming! All in all, I survived and I will never go it again!

Birthday Time!

So we both recently celebrated our 24th birthdays (Bran on Sep. 11 and mine on Sep. 27). We didn't really do anything spectacular for our birthdays, but they were relaxing (at least for me). I used to be really excited for my birthday, but as I get older, it seems like birthdays are more frequent! And besides, when you're old, no one else really cares about your birthday like when you were a kid.Before our birthday's, we decided not to get each other anything because there are other things that our money needs to go towards. My Mom got Brandon this really cool fruit basket from Edible Arrangements that was perfect! He can be such a health nut, so this was awesome. I forgot to take pictures of it before we started eating it, so there are some bare spots in our fruit bouquet.

For my birthday however, Brandon broke the rule of not buying anything and got me a new plant! It's an Anthurium, but I think that is the general type of plant, I think there is a specific name for this plant, I'm just not sure what it is! So here are some pictures of me with the new plant...I love how it has pink blooms!

And here I am with my 3 children. If you'll recall from our February post, we had 3 plants then too, but one of them died a few months ago:( So this is my replacement "child".

Also, my Mom sent me a few things for my birthday and this was one of them. It was a tin full of Mrs. Field's cookies! They were super yummy! I kept it at school and when I was feeling stressed, I had cookies to rescue me! (Disclaimer: I normally do not condone emotional eating.)

Playing Ketchup

So clearly, we are not good at keeping up with our blog. So we are sitting here today and we are thinking of what we've done over the last several months. Here's a recap:

March: Bri worked all the time. Brandon in school all the time. Booooo-ring. Oh and my sister Niki came in town for a few days and we went indoor rock climbing and hiked the "Y".

April: Bri still working all the time. Brandon finished first semester at BYU. It was tough, but he made it through.

May: Bri and Brandon go to St. George for Mother's Day Weekend. This was my first time in St. George and it was pretty fun! Also I chopped my hair off while I was there so that I could donate it again. We went and saw Keane in concert! It was a really good show but we had a really hard time getting there and getting home because of car trouble.

June: I got to home to St. Louis and surprise my family! It was a really good visit and I even got to go to Black River! While I was home, I was offered a teaching position for junior high in Alpine School District and of course I took it! While I was home, Brandon went to St. George and spent some time with his family. On a sad note, one of our plants died:(

July: We saw Incubus in concert! It was a pretty good show! We had a lot of barbeques. Our high school bball coach and his wife came in town and we took them up to Temple Square. I signed my contract for school (yeah for salary and benefits!). I quit my job in collections! Brandon has been playing a lot of softball with the ward, they won the spring league but they lost the summer league. We also played Ultimate together but we only won one game.

Well it is August now and this is going to be a pretty big month! We celebrate our anniversary on the 30th, we both start school, and we are trying to do a lot of fun stuff while I have a couple weeks off! On saturday, we went tubing down the Provo River... it was FREEZING! But it was a lot of fun!
